Your First Visit

We want your first visit to be comfortable and productive. Here's what to expect.

Before Your Appointment

To make the most of your first visit, please bring the following:

  • Your dental insurance card(s)
  • A photo ID
  • Any dental X-rays taken within the past 12 months
  • A list of all current medications
  • A list of any known allergies
  • Your completed health history form (which you can request in advance)

If you have been referred by your dentist, please ask them to send your records and X-rays to our office prior to your appointment.

What to Expect

Your first appointment typically includes:

  1. Health history review — We will discuss your medical and dental history in detail, including any medications, allergies, and previous dental treatment.
  2. Clinical examination — One of our specialists will perform a comprehensive periodontal examination, including measurements of gum pocket depths, bone levels, and overall oral health assessment.
  3. Radiographic review — We will review existing X-rays or take new ones as needed, including a cone-beam CT scan if implants are being considered.
  4. Diagnosis and treatment planning — Your doctor will discuss their findings with you, explain your diagnosis in plain language, and present treatment options along with their risks and benefits.
  5. Questions and answers — We encourage you to ask as many questions as you need. We want you to feel fully informed and comfortable with your care plan.

Insurance and Payment

Please bring your insurance card. We will verify your benefits and provide an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins. See our Financial & Insurance page for details.
